Musa Muhammad Kabir, a 13 year old boy from Gungun Rimi community of Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi State who became incapacitated after falling off a mango tree and sustained a spinal cord injury is in dire need of N1.5 million to foot his surgery bills.
Musa who is currently lying down helplessly at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH is bedridden and left in the care of his mother, Malama Jamila Muhammad Kabir.
Musa’s parents who are poor, struggle to make ends met and the weight of uncertainty for the survival of their child hangs heavy.
Musa’s father who is a health attendant at Gwashe Dispensary also in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi state has no financial capacity to foot the medical bills of his child.
According to his mother, Malama Jamila Muhammad Kabir, her son fell off a mango tree and sustained cervical injuries that requires an urgent medical intervention to save him from being permanently paralyzed or death.
She said that the dream of her son to help the family, his community and Nigeria at large have been shattered following the spinal cord injuries, adding that hopes for her son’s recovery seems bleak as a result of the piling medical bills and their financial incapacitation.
Malama Jamila added that it took the compassionate support from some kind individuals including medical workers to enable them to conduct some tests, X-ray, access medical equipment and some drugs.
She appealed to kind-hearted individuals or organizations assist her family to foot Musa surgery bills and lamented that for the past six weeks they have been on admission, her husband (Musa’s father) could not show up because he could not meet the financial demands.
Musa’s mother further appealed to the Tafawa Balewa local government council, the Bauchi state government, Senator representing Bauchi-South Senatorial District, Shehu Umar Buba, spirited individuals and organisations to come to their rescue.
Jamila said that her family who is poor, struggle to feed and cater for ailing Musa who have exhausted everything, adding that they are left with no option than to seek assistance from government, spirited individuals and organizations.
Musa who is supposed to be in JSS II, with tears flowing down his chins, said that his present condition had hindered him from furthering his studies while his mates attend classes.
