
The Executive Chairman of Jos East Local Government Council, Hon Yakubu Izang Ezekiel is seeking the council legislative approval to appoint 110 Special Advisers as provided by the Local Government Law.
This was content in a letter which was read on the floor of the Council Legislative Chamber by the leader of the House, Engr. Samuel Azi Kayarda, during Tuesday plenary.
Statement by the local government Information Officer, Mr. Yusufu Magit stated that the matter was kept in view for further deliberation as the sitting was adjoined to Tuesday, 9th August, 2022 to allow members attain a 3day Workshop billed to start on Thursday 4th August, 2022.
During the plenary, the need for State Government to suspend deductions from the Local Governments to enable Council’s embark on some projects was also deliberated.

The Legislative Council showered accolades on INEC in the locality for being proactive to the end of Voters Registration.
Leader of the Legislative Arm, Engr. Samuel Azi Kayarda gave the pass mark as he expressed delight to the INEC Officials for ensuring all those who turned up for the Voters Registration, change of voting centre and corrections among others were promptly attended to.
Engr Azi Kayarda further Commended the house Committee on INEC, other law makers, Religious and all stakeholders for the critical role at ensuring the electorates avail themselves the opportunity to register and obtain Permanent Voters Card.
Also during Plenary, the Law makers condemned in strong terms the tecent killing and kidnapping of people in Fursum and Fobur Districts of Jos East Local Government Area, and other parts of Plateau State saying that the house is concerned about the security of lives and properties of it’s people.
The Leader used the opportunity and thanked the Agwom Izere of Izere Nation, Rev. Dr Isaac Azi Wakili for recently leading the Traditional, Executive and Legislative Councils as well as Religious bodies on a condolence visit to the affected Communities and Families of the deceased and thereafter, a two minutes silence for the repose of the souls of those who were killed in the unfortunate incident was observed.
Other issues that came up during the plenary include; commendation on Budget and Security Committees for their doggedness in bringing to bear results of their stewardship and urged on other committees of the house to double efforts in their oversight functions for optimal results.
