University Lecturer Calls for Policy Review to Lower Fuel Prices, Improve Citizens’ Lives

Dr. Vincent Paul

Dr Vincent Paul, a lecturer at Nasarawa State University, has called on the federal government to reassess some of President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, with a focus on reducing fuel prices to improve the standard of living for Nigerians.

Dr. Paul made this appeal during a town hall meeting organized by a sociocultural youth group in Keffi, Nasarawa State. Speaking at the event, he emphasized the need for policy adjustments that reflect the “growing concerns of the people.”

He added, “The government must continue to invest resources in creating jobs and developing skills among the youth to curb restiveness and agitation.”

The town hall meeting, which aimed to establish a Community Entrepreneurship School, was organized by the youth wing of the Eggon Cultural Development Association, Keffi branch. The proposed school seeks to address the high rates of unemployment and poverty impacting young people in the region.

Senator Ahmed Wadada, represented by his legislative aide, Mr. Ego Theophilus, along with the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr. Danladi Jatau, commended the youth group’s initiative. They described it as a significant step toward tackling youth unemployment.

Mr Danjuma Benjamin, President of the Eggon Cultural and Development Association’s youth wing, explained that the school was conceived as a response to the rising challenges faced by young people, including “increased criminal activities, poverty, and unemployment.”

He added, “The school will equip young people with diverse skills, regardless of their educational backgrounds, to make them self-reliant.”
