Young Pharmacists Deworm over 500 Children in Nasarawa

Over 500 children in the Duduguru community, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have received deworming treatment from the Young Pharmacists Group of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.

National Chairman, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria PSN -Young Pharmacists Group Nigeria, Pharm. Azige Joseph Darius stated this during the flag-off of medical outreach in the Duduguru village.

According to Mr. Azigye, the gesture was in remembrance of the late paramount traditional ruler of the area, Zhe Duglu, the late Mr. Jonathan Iwala who died recently.

He explained that the free medical outreach includes testing for sugar levels and blood pressure as well as the distribution of drugs to the aged in the community.

Mr. Azigye noted that the initiative was in response to the prevailing high cost of medication, especially drugs.

Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Esther Ajeh and Baba Agidi Makama said the free offer was a huge relief for them  as they could not afford to access medication due to the rising cost of drugs.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the young Pharmacists Group for the initiative aimed at giving the less privileged sense of belonging.
