
The Plateau State Government say it has taken proactive measures to end Child trafficking across the state.
State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Caroline Dafur stated this when she and her entourage paid a courtesy visit on the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Jos East Local Government Council, Chief Markus Nyam on Tuesday, in continuation of the State wide awareness and sensitisation of stakeholders.
The commissioner explained that Child trafficking has eating deep into the fabrics of the society hence, the need for all to collaborate to nip the ugly situation in the bud.
She appreciated Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang for approving the tour and his quest to accord a boost to women related issues in the State, stressing that the Ministry will continue to monitor child trafficking and other related cases within and outside the shores of the state to ensure that those who are bent at the unwholesome practice are barred forthwith or made to face the full wrath of the law.
Responding, the TIC Chairman, Chief Markus Nyam, His wife, Mrs. Comfort, representative of Agwom Izere of Afizere Nation, Ada John Haruna, who is also the District Head of Shere and representative of the Director Social Services, Victoria Kaze commended the efforts of the Governor, the Commissioner and partners in the campaign against Child trafficking and other related matters.
They assured that they will continue to give all the necessary backing and to also step down the message across villagers.

Also speaking, Olivia Dazyem State Chairman, Gender Commission, Representative of National Agency for the prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP and State PDP Women Leader, Martina Dakur, opined that Child upbringing should not be politicised.
They frowned on parents who forced their children into early marriage or give them out for greener pastures and called on them to take responsibility of empowering them educationally and skillfully.
They added that the team will soon embark on street to street campaign against the menace and those found wanting would be prosecuted.
Ezekiel Shago Inah who represented a former Member representing Jos South /Jos East in the House of Representatives, Dachung Bagos said he will partner with the Judiciary and Executive arms of Government to ensure stiffer penalties are meted out to parents and persons who exhibit lukewarm attitudes on legislated laws prohibiting child trafficking.
The occasion was climaxed with a directive to constitute the Local Government Committee on Child Trafficking by the Commissioner.
Information Officer of Jos East local government council, Magit, Yusufu Haruna, report that the commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Directors, State Chairman, Gender Commission, Wives of top Government functionaries, State PDP Women leader and other supporting partners,
