Nasarawa: Ignore comments from emerging opposition -PDP tells Supporters

Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on its supporters to ignore comments made by the All Progressives Congress and the state government to provoke them and overheat the polity.

This is contained in a statement signed by Alh. Ibrahim Hamza, Publicity Secretary of PDP in the state and made available to newsmen in Lafia.

He said that Gov. Abdullahi Sule and his handlers have continued to spin the outcome of the October 2, 2023 governorship elections petition tribunal that had annulled his election and declared Mr. David Ombugadu of PDP as the real winner of March 18 governorship election in order to whip up sentiments ahead of Appeal Court hearing.

The PDP also said that APC and some appointees of the governor have scaled up media appearances in an attempt to analyse and extrapolate the outcome of the judgment in order to arrive at a goal conceived in their minds and wishes.

“Let us remind them that at a recently held meeting with the Director of the State Security Services (SSS), the two parties had agreed to guide their supporters against using vulgar language and avoid unnecessary responses to avoid heating the polity.

“We have chosen to respect the admonition, but the APC have chosen to exhibit their frustration by hurling insults instead of advancing logical ideas in public discourse.

“They have failed to desist from discussing matters pending before the courts and have chosen media platforms as their tribunal tantamount to exhibiting sub-judicial tendencies.

“We need to remind them that this practice does not only negates the integrity of legal proceedings, but also undermined the principles of justice and peace in an attempt to intimidate and cow the courts,” he added.

The PDP spokesperson in the state therefore, expressed confidence that the appeal court would upheld the judgement of the tribunal and affirm Ombugadu as the governor of the state.
