
Keana Local Government Area which is located in the Southern Senatorial Zone of Nasarawa State was created in 1996 with 10 electoral wards.
In 2021, Alhaji Sanusi Abdul Giza assumed office as the eighth democratically elected chairman of Keana Local Government Area.
Alhaji Sanusi Giza, a thorough bred grassroots politician who is fully in constant touch with the yearnings and aspiration of the people, hit the ground running by engaging stakeholders across the 10 electoral wards of the local government area in series of consultations aimed at identifying the critical felt need of the people.
One year down the line, Alhaji Sanusi Giza commenced the award of contracts for construction of projects spread across the local government to address some of the immediate challenges the people were facing .
One of such landmark projects is the construction of a bridge in Kwarra Ward of the local government.
In an interview, the village Head of Kwarra Alhaji Usman Abubakar Waya stated that since the construction of the bridge economic activities in the community and the surrounding villages had been transformed considering its strategic importance to the people.

A community leader of Kwarra community Mr Spencer Ajegena described the construction of the bridge as a practical demonstration of the statutory responsibilities of local government councils while Mrs Balkisu Yakubu said Alhaji Sanusi Giza’s administration had encouraged more women to farming.
Kadarko is one of the oldest communities in the Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The community is highly reputable especially for the high volume of economic activities that are known in the area, ranging from commerce, agriculture to hunting and fishing .
However, one major challenge people of the area have been facing for many decades is difficulties to access other villages due to non availability of a bridge linking the community to the outside world.
In a bid to provide relief for the people of the area, the Council Chairman, Alhaji Sanusi Giza matched word with action by awarding a contract for the construction of the only bridge
According to Alhaji Sanusi Giza, the construction of bridge was a project he held closed to his chest.

“During my campaign tours, we could cross to the other electoral wards and communities due to the bad nature of the bridge. I took it as matter of priority that I must construct the bridge. I am glad to see this come to pass,” he said.
A traditional ruler of the community the Dakacin Kadarko Abdulkareemu Ayitogo noted that over the years, people of the area had suffered losses in the areas of property and human lives due to the bad condition of the bridge.
While the Chairman of Eggon Community Development Association Mr. Auta Sakas and a youth leader in the area Mr. Enna Dennis Ali who described the bridge as a symbol of unity among the various ethnic groups of the area said the intervention of the local government chairman Alhaji Sanusi Giza was a complete departure from what used to be the practice were projects were cited based on socio political and other considerations.
Over the years, the people of Iwagu Electoral Ward have been living in fear and uncertainty especially during the rainy season.
While the community kept counting their losses year in year out due to floodings in the area, they kept hope alive for a leader who will come to their aid until the emergence of Alhaji Sanusi Giza as chairman of Keana Local Government Area.
Alhaji Sanusi Giza immediately awarded a contract for the construction of a seven point five metres drainage system to allow seamless flow of water.
A resident of the area Mr Suleiman Muhammed Kabir who was short of words to express his gratitude said the initiative of Alhaji Sanusi Giza had secured their area as according to him, the project would remain indelible to the hearts of the people.

In Sarkin Noma Electoral Ward of Keana Local Government Area, the people’s joy knows no bounds as a result of the electrification project courtesy of the council chairman Alhaji Sanusi Giza.
Youth leader of the community Mr Agum Likita pointed out that since the supply of electricity in the area, most youths in the villages had been in various skills.
Also speaking, residents of the community Mr Araku Amos who is into weldingJob said he established his business in the area due to availability of electricity and had engaged ten apprentices while Mrs Alice Audu commended the local government chairman for the project which according to her had added value to their lives.
A community leader of the area, Mr Francis Anzaku called on leaders at all levels to take a cue from the initiative of the council Chairman of Keana Local Government to give people of the grassroots sense of belonging.
