Jos East Council Staff charged to be Committed to Duty

The acting Director of Personnel Management, Jos East local government council, Yakubu Bareh has urged staff of the council to be more committed at work.

The acting DPM made the call during an interface with staff of the council, at the Executive chamber of the Local Government Council in Angware.

Statement by one of the Information Officer of the council, Joyce Timothy noted that Mr. Bareh stressed that commitment to duty is the catalyst for transformational development in any giving organization hence, nothing less is expected of the Staff.

According to the statement, while responding to issues raised during the meeting, Bereh applauded the level of dedication to duty he saw from the staff,  since the re-opening of the Secretariat gate after its closure, occasioned by the directives of the Acting Inspector General of Police, some times back and further tasked the staff to be more prompt to work despite the economic challenges faced.

The acting DPM appreciated the entire staff of the council for the massive support given the former DPM and solicited same spirit to be accorded him while his period last, promising to  address issues raised by the staff union leadership and other Staff in the aspect of paying of outstanding salaries, disturbance allowances, and to pursue the release of the long awaited promotion of staff as well as put back to use the Staff bus which has been off the roads for some times.

In their separate contributions, Director of Social Services, David Mancha, Budget Planning Research and Statistics, John Ali and acting Director of Finance and Supplies, Abdulhameed Gambo, all reiterated the need for the Staff to be more conversant with the scheme of service for optimal performance and advised for better representation of  Trade Union bodies at the State and Federal levels for improved workers welfare.

Others who spoke during the Paley, include Administration Officer, Prince Caleb, alongside other staff pledged undying support and loyalty to the acting DPM and acting DFS, as well as Directors of other Departments but called for improved Staff Transport system, welfare packages and other emoluments for better service delivery.

Chairmen of the three Trade Unions, Comrade Ali Itse Musa (NULGE), Comrade Izam Ishaya Anop (Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria) and Comrade Elizabeth Dapel (National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives) all made their submissions through the NULGE Chairman, where they congratulated the acting DPM and acting DFS for the new task and encouraged them to be magnanimous in handling the affairs of the council, while looking into solving outstanding staff entitlements.
