Police Officers Wives Association, POWA, has flag off an empowerment scheme for wives of Police Officers across Nigeria.
The National President of the Association, Hajiya Hajara Alkali Baba while distributing the empowerment items in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital, called on spouses of security agencies to intensify prayers for their husbands to find lasting solution to the lingering security challenges facing the country.
The distribution of the empowerment items was part of activities carried out by the National President, Police Officers Wives Association, POWA Hajiya Hajara Alkali Baba during a two day working visit to Nasarawa State.
The POWA President stated that the programme was borne out of the desire to empower police officers at the home front through their wives.
She urged the police officers wives to continue to entrench peace in their homes to inspire their husbands to focus attention to their duties.
Nasarawa State Police Commissioner, Mr Adeyemi Soyemi use the event and commended the Inspector General of Police Mr Usman Alkali Baba for bringing new innovations towards addressing security challenges of the country.
Mr. Adeyemi Soyemi explained that the empowerment Program would motivate officers and men of the command to redouble efforts towards discharging their duties.
Some of the beneficiaries Mrs Grace Oga and Mrs Adah Ogah said the items would raise their economic standard.

Sewing and grinding machines as well as food items were distributed to over 80 wives of Police Officers including widows.

National President of POWA Hajiya Hajara Alkali Baba during the two days visit to Nasarawa State also led her members to a fitness road walk within Lafia metropolis and sanitation exercise.
