
The apex body of the Gamai nation known as Gamai Unity and Development Organization (GUDO) in Plateau State has unanimously endorsed the candidature of the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong for senator to represent southern senatorial district of the state this Saturday.
At a press briefing which was held today at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Secretariat in Jos, GUDO President, Albert Kenlong Alkali said the endorsement followed the vote of confidence passed on the governor by the National Executive Council, NEC of the organization which the Lalong is a member.
Reading the text of the briefing which was signed by the President, Albert Kenlong Alkali and Secretary, Dennis Isa Sangyen, the president said it was the governor’s antecedent that necessitate the endorsement by the socio cultural group which is apolitical.
The organization listed some 22 achievements of Lalong as a governor to includes, restoration of peace and security in the state, promoting policy of continuity and inclusiveness in governance and prompt payment of workers emoluments and retirement benefits.

“Completion of many abandoned projects by previous administrations, numerous Lalong Legacy Projects in the State, creation of districts and chiefdoms, upgrading of Traditional Institutions, upgrading of CARST Kurgwi and renamed as Ignatius Longjan Polytechnic, employment of teachers, health workers and staff in ministries of Plateau State.
“Establishment of the Plateau-Peace Building Agency which has helped to nib violent conflicts in the bud, establishment of PLASCHEMA, establishment of the Plateau Solid Mineral Agency, construction of the British-America flyover and bridges.
“Full accreditation of courses at the Plateau State University, Bokkos, convocation of students at the Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi which had remained herculean for previous administrations, establishment of Federal Polytechnic Nyak-Shendam, building and employment of academic staff for the Institution, establishment of an Orthopedic Hospital in Wase
“Establishment of FRSC Training Institute Shendam, establishment of a Branch of the Nigerian Law-School in Plateau State”. The text read.

They called on their people to be law abiding and peaceful during the forth-coming General Elections and also called on INEC to ensure the unimpeded conduct of free, fair and credible elections where every vote counts.
Lalong who is the current governor of Plateau State, Director General of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, is contesting to represent the people of Plateau south senatorial district at the National Assembly under the ruling All Progressives Congress APC.
