2023: APC tasks supporters on violence-free poll

All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasarawa State chapter, has urged its supporters to eschew violence and adhere strictly to the provisions of Electoral Act, as they prepare for the forthcoming general elections.

APC Chairman in the state, Dr John Mamman, stated this at a news briefing on the level of preparation, ahead of the general elections, on Thursday in Lafia.

According to him, the party is highly optimistic of winning the elections, as it has put in place all necessary preparations to achieve a resounding victory.

“Today, we are getting set for the 2023 general elections that will usher in a new president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, distinguished senators and honorable members of the House of Representatives.

“The second election that will come up in March will usher in governors and members of state Houses of Assembly. All preparations for these elections have already been put in place,” he said.

Mamman said that the party had already trained a total of 3,256 polling agents to man polling units at various electoral wards in the state.

He said as part of preparations to ensure hitch-free elections, the party had been meeting with stakeholders at various levels, political appointees, religious organisations, students and other allied associations.

“The fundamental reason for meeting with all these groups is to ensure that we have hitch-free elections, devoid of violence and rancour.

“Election is not a do-or-die. So, we have been appealing to people and every sector we meet to canvass for vote to ensure the decency in the way we play our democratic responsibilities and roles,” he said.

The APC chairman appealed to residents of the state to come out in their numbers to exercise their franchise without fear of intimidation, as security had been put in place to secure lives and property.
