The African Democratic Party (ADP) in Nasarawa State says it has repositioned itself to promote issue-based campaigns centred on inclusivity, security, economic recovery and sustainable empowerment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Governorship Candidate of the party, Dr. Chris Mamman, stated this during a press briefing in Lafia following the affirmation of the party’s candidates for the State House of Assembly elections and the unveiling of the Deputy Governorship candidate.
As part of its strategic preparations for the 2027 polls, supporters and members of the ADP from across the state converged on Lafia for what the party described as an in-house clearance exercise conducted in line with electoral guidelines.
Speaking with journalists, Dr. Mamman said the party had continued to attract more members and supporters due to its people-centred vision and commitment to internal democracy.
He described Nasarawa State as a land endowed with enormous economic potential and diverse human resources, stressing that the state requires creative, innovative and globally minded leadership to harness these opportunities for sustainable development.
Dr. Mamman urged party supporters to intensify neighbourhood consultations and sensitisation campaigns across the state to mobilise support for ADP candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also emphasised the need for issue-based campaigns, unity of purpose among party faithful and a shared commitment to the common good of Nasarawa State.
The highlight of the event was the official unveiling of Alhaji Aliyu Usman Gurku as the Deputy Governorship candidate and affirmation of the ADP candidates for the State House of Assembly elections, witnessed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies.
