A group under the aegis of Nasarawa South Eggon Women Progressive Forum has called on the All Progressives Congress, (APC), to consider Angela Ayas-Bako as the running mate to Sen. Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, governorship candidate of the party ahead of the 2027 election.
Mrs Alheri Musa, spokesperson of the forum made the call at a press conference on Friday in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The women said that the choice of Angela Ayas-Bako would promote inclusiveness, gender equity, and reward the contributions of women to the party.
The spokesperson further said women have remained loyal and consistent supporters of the APC and deserve proper representation at the highest level of decision-making in the state.
“We, the women are appealing to our great party, the APC, and to Senator Ahmed Wadada, to pick Angela Ayas-Bako as his deputy.
“She is competent, grassroots-oriented, and understands the needs of women and youths,” she said.
According to her, giving the deputy slot to a woman would further unite the party, boost its chances in 2027, and correct the imbalance in women’s representation in governance.
The forum also passed a vote of confidence in the APC leadership style and the party’s commitment to development, peace and security of the state and the country.
They urged party leaders and stakeholders to prioritise merit, loyalty, and inclusivity in the selection of the deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 elections.
The group therefore, promised to mobilise women across the 13 Local Government Areas to vote for all APC candidates in the next general election. (NAN).
