The Nasarawa State Government has donated two operational Hilux vehicles to the 1222 Quick Response Wing, Nigerian Air Force, Lafia, as part of its efforts to strengthen security and tackle kidnapping in the state.

Dr Labaran Magaji, Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government (SSG), presented the vehicles to the Commanding Officer, 1222 Quick Response Wing, Squadron Leader Mustapha Shaibu, on Friday in Lafia.

The SSG, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs, Office of the SSG, Mohammed Iliyasu-Idde, said
the donation was in furtherance of Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s commitment to supporting security agencies.

“In furtherance of the commitment of Gov. Abdullahi Sule, in his continuous effort to support the security agencies with vehicles to stem the tide of security challenges in the state, he has directed us to donate two brand new vehicles to you,” he said.

“On behalf of the Nasarawa State Government, I wish to present the keys and the allocation papers of these two vehicles for use by the Quick Response Wing, Nasarawa State,” he said.

Receiving the vehicles, the Commanding Officer of the 1222 Quick Response Wing, Sqn. Ldr.
Mustapha Shaibu, said the donation would directly address a major operational gap.

“This morning, I’m so glad upon receiving the information from His Excellency that he will be coming over to 1222 Quick Response Wing to deliver brand new two Hiluxes. It’s a thing of joy,” he said.

Sqn. Ldr. Shaibu explained that inadequate operational vehicles had been limiting the unit’s operation.

“Because we have some limitations when it comes to carrying out our operations, and one of the limitations is inadequate operational vehicles.

“So with these two brand new Hilux that the Governor has graciously given us, it’s going to enhance our operations in containing kidnapping and other criminal activities here in Lafia and Nasarawa State at large,” he stated.

He extended appreciation to Gov. Sule and the office of the SSG on behalf of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, and personnel of the Quick Response Wing for the donation.(NAN)
