A socio-political women group, Nzuko Umuada Abia (NUAB), has endorsed the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Abia State, Chief Ndubuisi Etugo Ogah, ahead of the 2027 general election, describing him as a leader with the vision and capacity to transform the state.
The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the group’s enlarged meeting held at Ojukwu Bunker in Umuahia on Sunday, August 2, 2026. The statement was signed by the President of the association, Lady Nancy Nzomuche, and Dr. Ifeoma Offor.
The women group commended Chief Ogah’s leadership qualities, resilience, and commitment to nation-building, saying his contributions to democratic development and public service have distinguished him as a credible leader.
According to the group, Chief Ogah has consistently demonstrated dedication to gender equality, good governance, and the promotion of democratic values in Abia State and across Nigeria.
The organisation further praised his support for human empowerment, community development, and his passion for improving the lives of ordinary citizens through purposeful leadership.
The statement noted that Ogah has played significant roles in the industrialisation of his community in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, while also providing effective leadership in various professional bodies, describing him as a defender of justice and an advocate for the welfare of the people.
Nzuko Umuada Abia expressed confidence that the widespread acceptance enjoyed by the NDC governorship candidate among the electorate would translate into victory for the party in the forthcoming governorship election.
The group described his emergence as the NDC governorship flag bearer as the beginning of a new era of progress and purposeful leadership for Abia State.
It also expressed confidence in Ogah’s ability to drive industrialisation, provide critical infrastructure, strengthen democratic institutions, and implement policies that would promote even development across the state if elected governor.
The women organisation pledged to mobilise massive support and votes for the NDC candidate, assuring him of its commitment to ensuring his success at the polls.
The group also called on eligible residents of Abia State to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that the PVC remains the most effective democratic tool for citizens to choose credible leaders and influence good governance.
Nzuko Umuada Abia urged voters to participate actively in the electoral process, maintaining that broad civic participation would strengthen democracy and ensure the emergence of leaders capable of delivering meaningful development for the state.
