Double Membership Claim Is Opposition Fabrication; Sen. Wadada Is APC — Hon. Atajire

By Francis Nansak, Lafia

Prince Hon. Abdullahi Atajire, Coordinator for the Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone under Governor Abdullahi Sule’s camp and the Baraden Keffi, has dismissed as “political desperation” insinuations that Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu holds dual membership of two political parties.

Speaking to our correspondent by telephone on Saturday, Atajire said Governor Sule’s preference for Senator Wadada as his successor cannot be reversed, nor is there any basis to seek the senator’s disqualification.

“The double-membership story is the height of frustration from those who are politically displaced,” he said.

Atajire argued that while aspirants from other senatorial zones are free to contest, the governor’s decision to zone the governorship to Nasarawa West followed a deliberate process aimed at balancing the state’s rotational arrangement.

“Nasarawa West has waited 20 years since Senator Abdullahi Adamu completed his eight-year tenure in 2007,” he noted. “The southern zone held power for 12 consecutive years from 2007 to 2019. Nasarawa North is currently completing its second term under Engr. Abdullahi Sule. It is only equitable that the west produces the next governor.”

According to Atajire, the governor has made his direction clear, and party loyalists will follow that path as the surest route to victory in the 2027 general election.

“Everyone is at liberty to contest, but the governor’s direction is where we stand. Senator Wadada is the candidate to beat. They know the kind of majority support he commands, so they are at liberty to try,” he said.

He maintained that Senator Wadada remains “unbeatable” and questioned the relevance of opposition parties in the state. “If you’re just telling me about others now, I’m not even aware of the existence of opposition political parties in Nasarawa State,” he added.
