Over 5,000 supporters of former governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State have realigned their loyalty to former Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Adamu, ahead of the 2027 general election.
The supporters declared their backing in Lafia, the state capital, citing a shared vision for a better and more inclusive Nasarawa State.
Speaking on behalf of the groups, Abdulhaq Dauda said their decision followed the withdrawal of their preferred aspirants and was driven by the need to support a candidate capable of delivering people-oriented governance.
He disclosed that the group rejected a directive by Faisal Shuaib, who had withdrawn from the race, asking them to support the preferred candidate of Governor Abdullahi Sule, Ahmed Wadada.
According to him, their initial support for Dr. Shuaib was based on his commitment to people-driven governance, but his withdrawal and subsequent directive did not align with their expectations.

“We have resolved to throw our weight behind Abubakar Adamu based on his leadership qualities and his potential to uplift the common man in Nasarawa State,” Dauda stated.
Also speaking, Abdul Maidoki, a leader of supporters of another withdrawn aspirant, Ahmed Musa Mohammed, said their decision to back Abubakar Adamu remains firm and unwavering.
He called on Governor Abdullahi Sule and other political appointees in the state to avoid interference in the party’s primary process to ensure a transparent and credible exercise that reflects the will of the people.
“Our support for Abubakar Adamu is rooted in his commitment to party discipline, internal democracy, and the rule of law. We will continue to mobilise support to ensure his emergence at the primaries,” he said.
In a related development, some supporters of Senator Ahmed Wadada also announced their decision to switch allegiance to Abubakar Adamu during the event. (Radio Nigeria).
