NPFL: Nasarawa Utd. returns to winning ways, trashes Warri Wolves 3:0

Nasarawa United Football Club returned to winning ways on Sunday with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Warri Wolves in a Matchday 35 fixture of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The encounter, played at the Lafia Township Stadium, was held behind closed doors following a sanction by the NPFL board.

The decision came after crowd disturbances involving Nasarawa United supporters during their previous home game.

Victor Chimezie converted a penalty in 43 minutes to give Solid Miners a lead and they doubled the lead in the 62nd minute through Ngegi Oluka-Efor, while Habibi Alakija put the result beyond doubt in the 74th minute with a third goal to secure the three points for the Nasarawa side.

Nasarawa Utd., currently ranked sixth with 53 points on the NPFL table, while Worri Wolves is 17th on the table with 43 points.

In a post-match interview, the Technical Adviser of Nasarawa Utd, Mbwas Mangut, expressed joy for getting maximum points in the game.

He however said that the team is in a difficult situation because they want to win the remaining matches to win the title and get a continental ticket.

He said that the team would take the remaining games seriously to ensure that they win home and away matches to get to the position they are targeting. (NAN).
