Congresses: ADC elects new officials in Nasarawa State

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nasarawa State has elected its new state officials to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The election, held on Saturday in Lafia, was conducted through a consensus arrangement ratified by delegates from all 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

The new State Chairman, Mr John Michael-Abdul emerged alongside other executive members including Deputy Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Secretary, and Woman Leader, Zonal officials for Nasarawa North, Nasarawa South and Nasarawa West Senatorial Districts respectively.

In his acceptance speech, Michael-Abdul, the new chairman pledged to reposition the ADC as a credible alternative in Nasarawa State politics.

He said the state executive would focus on grassroots mobilisation, internal democracy, and issue-based engagement throughout the electioneering period and even beyond.

Michael-Abdul who was a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, expressed optimism that the party would take over the country and the state from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

The Chairman said their mandate was to build a party that reflects the values of integrity, inclusion, and quality service to the people of the state.

“Today, by your consensus and by this Congress, you have entrusted us with the responsibility to serve our great party for the next four years and we have accepted it with deep humility and a sense of duty to deliver.

“ADC in Nasarawa State is a big family with one vision and mission to grow the party, win elections and deliver good governance to the people of the state,” he added.

He further explained that the officials would come up with a comprehensive work plan in the next 30 days to strengthen the party in the 147 electoral wards, 13 LGAs and the state.

Also speaking, Barr Paul Magaji, outgoing Chairman of ADC expressed gratitude to members for the opportunity to serve the party and appealed for the extension of the same support to the new leaders.

The Chairman of the Congress Committee described the process as peaceful and transparent, noting that all positions were filled without rancour.

He therefore, returned the officials elected after the ratification by the delegates and they were sworn in immediately by Barr John Matthew. (NAN).
