The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Saturday conducted parallel State congresses that produced two chairmen in Plateau State.
The two congresses were held in Jos, with the camp of Ambassador Hannatu Gagara conducted its congress at Adewusi House, Murtala Mohammed Way, while the camp of Hon. Samuel Gyang, alongside former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, held its congress at the party’s State Secretariat in Kalwa House.
At Ambassador Hannatu Gagara’s congress, the state executive committee was affirmed. Similarly, the Hon. Samuel Gyang camp produced Hon. Daweng Dung Pam through affirmation, in line with a directive adopted from the party’s National Secretariat.
All eyes are now on the national leadership of the party to determine which factional state leadership will be accepted and officially recognized, as both sides are loyal to the party’s national chairman, Senator David Mark.
The decision to be taken by the National Secretariat is expected to put an end to months of leadership tussles between the two factions in the state.
Currently, Ambassador Hannatu Gagara’s camp operates from its State Secretariat opposite the National Library in Hwolshe, while the Hon. Samuel Gyang-led faction operates from its office at Kalwa House, Zarmagada, Jos.
