Nigeria @66: NCDC reaffirms commitment to transforming North Central

The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has congratulated President Bola Tinubu and Nigerians on the 66th Independence Anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to transforming the region.

Dr Cyril Tsenyil, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the commission, conveyed the message on behalf of its Governing Board, Management and staff in a statement issued by Dr Makut Macham, Head of Media and Corporate Communications, on Thursday in Lafia.

Tsenyil described the anniversary as an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the nation’s journey, consolidate its achievements and renew their commitment to building a more prosperous future.

He paid tribute to the country’s founding fathers and past leaders who, he said, made sacrifices and served in various capacities to promote national unity, peace and development despite challenges.

The NCDC chief executive expressed confidence in the resilience, faith and determination of Nigerians to overcome the country’s challenges and attain its rightful place among leading nations.

He said the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration, particularly the establishment of Regional Development Commissions, including the NCDC, would accelerate development through a coordinated and regionally responsive approach.

Tsenyil said the NCDC remained committed to transforming the North Central region by unlocking its vast potential in agriculture, education, industrialisation, mineral development, economic integration, youth development and entrepreneurship.

He urged citizens and stakeholders in the region to actively participate in implementing the commission’s 20-Year Strategic Development Plan, recently unveiled at the inaugural NCDC Stakeholders Development Summit in Abuja.

According to him, the plan, which received broad endorsement from stakeholders within and outside the region, provides a strategic framework for sustainable economic, infrastructural and social transformation.

He said its successful implementation would require the collective commitment and participation of governments, the private sector, development partners, traditional institutions, communities and other stakeholders.

Tsenyil wished Nigerians, particularly citizens of the North Central region, a peaceful and memorable Independence Anniversary, while praying for greater peace, unity, security and prosperity for the country. (NAN)
