Trinidad and Tobago-born independent artiste and music promoter, Trevor G, has described music as a means of expression and relaxation, while tracing his musical journey to the rich sounds of Tamboo Bamboo, Calypso and Reggae.
Trevor G, who has been active in music since 1999, said his musical influences were shaped significantly by his late uncle, Artherly “Philip” George, from whom he learnt the Tamboo Bamboo rhythm.
According to him, his musical journey has also been influenced by Calypso and Reggae, genres which have contributed to his development and creative expression over the years.
Speaking about his current promotional projects, Trevor G highlighted three major Riddims, including the African Star Riddim and Afro Zess Riddim, both Afrobeat Parang projects featuring songs from various artistes.
He also mentioned the Dance Like Romans Riddim, a Soca Parang project featuring songs by various artistes, with all three projects produced by Trevor G.
Of his own songs, Trevor G identified “Jook Out Meh Eye” as the song that best describes him, reflecting a personal connection with his music and artistic identity.
The artiste said his interest in both Trinidadian and African music is inspired by what he described as a “connection to Source” and a connection to everyone, highlighting the common bond he sees through music and culture.
Asked which artiste he would like to collaborate with regardless of genre, Trevor G named Soca star Bunji Garlin, citing his lyrical creativity and performance flow as qualities he admires.
Looking ahead, the independent artiste said music lovers should expect upcoming releases in Soca, Rapso and Reggae, signalling his intention to continue exploring different sounds and genres.
Trevor G also described himself as a multi-talented creative, saying his abilities extend “from pen to paper and instruments to event promoter,” reflecting his involvement in different aspects of the entertainment industry.
For Trevor G, music goes beyond entertainment. He described it simply as “expression of relaxation,” suggesting that his creative work serves both as a form of expression and a source of enjoyment.
On his growing connection with Africa, the Trinidad and Tobago artiste said his major promotional activity is currently taking place in Nigeria through an African Media Tour organised by World Link Promotions and Island Breeze Entertainment.
Although he is yet to stage a major performance in Africa, the Caribbean, Europe or America, Trevor G said he currently performs locally at various venues and is looking forward to expanding his performance reach.
As an independent artiste, Trevor G continues to manage his musical journey while promoting his projects and connecting with audiences across different territories.
