The Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has sworn in four new commissioners, warning them that his administration will not tolerate misconduct or the abuse of public trust.
The oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge of Bauchi State, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, at the Government House in Bauchi.
The newly appointed cabinet members are Madaki Ahmad Gololo, Bashir Yau, Bashir Adamu Rishi, and Baraya Ibrahim.
The Governor explained that the new appointments followed the voluntary resignation of previous State Executive Council members who stepped down to contest in the 2027 general elections.
He noted that to ensure continuous and balanced representation, the new commissioners were selected from the same local government areas as their predecessors and emphasized that their selection was strictly based on competence, experience, and credibility.
In tandem with the swearing-in, the Governor announced a minor cabinet reshuffle, saying that Adamu Babayo Gabarin has been moved to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Abdul Hassan to the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties, Muhammad Hamisu Shira moved to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
According to him, Hassan Eliyakub and Usman Usman will maintain their current roles overseeing the Ministries of Local Government and Water Resources, respectively.
Governor Mohammed ordered the new officials to quickly align with government policies and collaborate closely with permanent secretaries and career civil servants.
He reminded them that public office remains under constant public scrutiny, demanding strict adherence to due process and the prudent management of resources.
Speaking on behalf of the new appointees, Baraya Ibrahim thanked the Governor for the opportunity and pledged that the team would work with total dedication to advance the state’s development agenda.
Portfolios Assigned to new commissioners include Madaki Ahmad Gololo for Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives, Bashir Yau for Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Bashir Adamu Rishi for Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and Baraya Ibrahim for Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment.
