The Bauchi State governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Dr. Yakubu Adamu, has donated ₦21 million to support communities devastated by recent natural disasters in the Kirfi and Shira Local Government Areas of the state.

Dr. Adamu announced the relief intervention during separate sympathy visits to the affected areas, where he expressed solidarity with residents who suffered massive losses.

In Bara community, located within the Kirfi Local Government Area, a severe flood triggered by a torrential downpour claimed the lives of a grandmother, Aishatu Sagir, and her granddaughter, Rahama Sagir.

The deluge also destroyed more than 360 houses, washed away farmlands, killed livestock, and displaced hundreds of residents who are currently taking refuge in local mosques and schools.

Describing the tragedy as heartbreaking, Dr. Adamu presented a donation of ₦10 million to the affected victims and an additional ₦1 million to the bereaved family.

He prayed to Allah to ease their sufferings, reward their patience, and grant forgiveness to the deceased.

Responding to the gesture, the District Head of Bara, Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi Bara, expressed profound gratitude to the APM candidate on behalf of the community.

He noted that the timely intervention would significantly alleviate the physical and economic hardships faced by the displaced families.

Local residents also praised Dr. Adamu, describing his prompt response as a demonstration of compassionate and proactive leadership.

In a similar development, Dr. Adamu visited the Shira Local Government Area, where he donated ₦10 million to families affected by a destructive windstorm.

The intervention is targeted at worst-hit communities, including Dango, Disina, and Zubo, where numerous residential shelters and livelihoods were destroyed.

Expressing his shock over the scale of the destruction, Dr. Adamu urged the victims to look to faith during the trial, stating that he deeply shared in their pain.

“Leadership is not only about words but about showing genuine concern, taking action, and responding to the needs of the people when they need it most,” Adamu said.

He noted that natural disasters leave lasting hardships on communities and called for a collective responsibility among leaders, organizations, and individuals to assist the victims.

He assured the affected families that they were not alone, emphasizing that the financial assistance was meant to provide urgent relief and jumpstart their recovery process.

He further appealed to emergency management authorities and well-meaning citizens to extend support toward rebuilding the affected communities.

Representatives from the Shira communities appreciated the donation, describing it as a timely lifesaver that would go a long way in helping them restore their homes and livelihoods.
