Former Plateau Speaker Pays WAEC Fees for 50 Students

The former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan, has paid the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) registration fees for fifty students in his constituency.

Rt. Hon. Dewan, who represents Pankshin North Constituency and is the sole opposition lawmaker in the 24-member House under the Young Progressives Party (YPP), made the donation on Tuesday to students of Langkuk Memorial Secondary School.

Each student’s WAEC registration fee costs Forty Thousand Naira (₦40,000), bringing the total amount paid to Two Million Naira (₦2,000,000).

Confirming the gesture on his verified Facebook page, the lawmaker wrote:

“WAEC PAID.

Every child deserves a fair chance to dream and succeed. With a heart committed to the future of our children, I have paid in cash the WAEC fees of ₦40,000 each for 50 students of Langkuk Memorial Secondary School, totalling ₦2 million.

When we lift our children, we lift our nation.”
