Kaduna State has been selected to host the 2026 Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPR Week), a development described as both an honour and a responsibility by the state government.
Governor Uba Sani disclosed this while receiving members of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), led by its President, Dr Ike Neliaku, alongside the Local Organising Committee, who formally presented the hosting flag to the state.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to seal Kaduna State’s commitment to hosting the event.
The 2026 NPR Week will be held under the theme “Food Security: From Policy Papers to Public Plates, The Public Relations Imperatives,” a focus that aligns with Kaduna State’s development agenda aimed at tackling poverty, unemployment and insecurity through sustainable and inclusive food systems.

According to the NIPR Governing Council, the week-long programme will feature the Institute’s Annual General Meeting, strategic media engagements, an executive roundtable on food security, fellowship inductions, capacity-building sessions, and guided project tours. The event is expected to attract over 2,000 participants from within Nigeria and other countries.
The Council noted that Kaduna State emerged as host after a rigorous assessment process, citing the state’s achievements in crisis management, peacebuilding, inclusive infrastructure development and economic reforms.
Governor Sani reaffirmed the state’s readiness to deliver a world-class event, highlighting strategic investments in agriculture and food security. These include the Special Agro-Processing Zone, the Africa Quality Assurance Centre, a $200 million Mega Poultry Project, and the allocation of 11 per cent of the proposed 2026 state budget to agriculture.

He also acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, noting that the federal government’s agricultural policies have strengthened ongoing efforts at agricultural transformation nationwide.
The governor further expressed appreciation for his appointment as Patron of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, stating that the 2026 Nigeria Public Relations Week would set a new benchmark and deliver lasting value to Kaduna State and the country at large.
