The Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Dr Labaran Magaji, says the state is pleased with the Federal Government’s support and intervention under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
Magaji who is also the state coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, while highlighting the achievements of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government of President Tinubu, particularly applauded economic reform, which led to an improved allocation to Nasarawa state.
Magaji stated this on Thursday in Lafia, while receiving the Forum of Former Secretaries of Local Governments, Supervisory Councilors, and Special Advisers on a courtesy call.
According to him, the improved federal allocation and prudent management of the state’s resources by Gov Abdullahi Sule translated to massive infrastructural and human capital development.
“Your visit is timely, because the government is working a lot to ensure the general welfare of the people, which is completely in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President Bola Tinubu.
“If there is anybody in this country who speaks so loudly about the benevolence of President Tinubu I think that person is second to Gov. Sule. He is one person who is not afraid of highlighting the support given to Nasarawa State by President Tinubu.
“With the coming of President Tinubu, quite a lot of things have happened, and because we have a leader in the state who has foresight, who came with the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy, he designed as a guiding document for the development of the state,” he said.
He highlighted development in the state, including the construction of the Lafia flyover and underpass, State Secretariat, Akwanga underpass, Keffi flyover and underpass, and the construction of two flyovers in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area.
He also noted that the state government under the leadership of Gov Sule has recruited over 10,000 workers, prioritised youth and women empowerment, promptly paid workers’ salaries, and regularly paid retirement benefits and pensions.
Magaji urged the forum to take advantage of the ongoing APC e – registration to register and mobilise people from ward to ward, polling unit to polling unit to get registered respectively.
The SSG, while responding to the forum’s request on the payment of their severance allowance, advised them to follow the due process, look at the position of the law, and take into consideration the existence of Local Government autonomy since they served under LGAs.
“I will advise that you pay a similar visit to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON, and also put yourself together and articulate a letter to the Governor through my office,” he advised.
Earlier speaking, Alh. Garba Yusuf, the chairman of the Forum, said they were in the SSG office to give support to the Government of Gov Abdullahi Sule, given the tremendous work he has been doing in the state.
Yusuf also said they were seeking the kindness of Gov Sule to pay their severance allowance after serving their tenures as secretaries of LGAs, special advisers, and supervisory councillors, respectively, just as some elected councillors benefited. (NAN)
