NUJ Plateau Council Unveils Activities for 2025 Press Week

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council, has announced a lineup of events for its 2025 Press Week, aimed at celebrating the journalism profession and promoting unity among media practitioners on the Plateau.

According to the Press Week Committee, activities will commence on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, with an Awareness Walk from the NUJ Press Centre to the State Secretariat Roundabout and back to the Press Centre. The walk is scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m.

On Thursday, October 16, 2025, a High-Level Colloquium will hold at Crispan Hotel, where the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Royal Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, will deliver a keynote address on the theme: “Plateau: What Next After the Crossroads.” The event begins at 9:00 a.m.

Friday’s activities, October 17, 2025, will feature a Juma’at Prayer at the Jos Central Mosque at 1:30 p.m., followed by a 5-Aside Novelty Football Match and Aerobics Session at Gold and Base Football Pitch and Villa Grand Hotel, Jos, starting at 3:00 p.m.

The celebration continues on Saturday, October 18, 2025, with a Cultural Day showcasing Plateau and Nigeria’s rich diversity through traditional dishes and cultural displays. The event will take place at the NUJ Press Centre by 3:00 p.m.

The week-long celebration will climax on Sunday, October 19, 2025, with a Thanksgiving Service at Living Faith Church Headquarters, British American Junction, Jos, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Chairman of the 2025 Press Week Committee, Farinola John Sunday, and Secretary, Zainab Babaji, called on all journalists across the state to participate actively in the activities, emphasizing that the celebration is an opportunity for members to network, learn, and honour the noble journalism profession.
