Gov. Sule urges Lafia Old Student Association to invest more on Education

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has called on alumni associations to impact positively and significantly on their alma mater for the growth and development of education sector in the state.

The Governor stated this while speaking during the 2025 National Convention and commissioning of landmark infrastructural projects executed by Lafia Old Students Association (LOSA) with the theme: Celebrating Unity, Legacy and Progress at Government Science School in Lafia.

Gov. Sule commanded Dr. Faisal Shuaib, the National President of the association and said LOSA has shown leadership with unwavering commitment towards various key interventions to bring back the lost glory of their alma mater.

He urged other alumni groups to emulate LOSA’s laudable initiative to complement government’s efforts towards providing a

conducive environment for teaching and learning.

Congratulating both the principal, teachers, students of the school including the LOSA members, Governor Sule used the forum to encourage the school and association to thrive towards sustain the transformational gains, calling for a maintenance  culture.

Also speaking, the National President Lafia Old Students Association, Dr. Faisal Shuaib highlighted some key developmental infrastructure interventions carried out by LOSA to include solar-powered boreholes, generating set, basketball and volleyball courts, clinic, laboratories, mini-shopping mall and LOSA National Secretariat, administrative block, examinations hall, furnishing and landscaping among others.

Dr. Shuaib, immediate past Executive Director, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency said the association is doing more, positing that the achievement comes to reality with the support and contributions of all members.

While recognizing the support of Governor Abdullahi Sule, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad l Rtd, Esu Karu, Pharm. Luka Panya Baba among others, maintained that due to the collective action of the LOSA Executive Council, the association was able to make indelible footprint.

In a goodwill message, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad l Rtd., who graduated from the school in 1974, praised Dr. Faisal Shuaib, for his immense contributions for the actualization of the alma mater’s goals.

During an expanded Annual General Meeting (AGM), the LOSA congregation unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Dr. Faisal Shuaib-led LOSA leadership to continue with its leadership for the next three years.

The endorsement was received with excitement by all members present.

In an acceptance speech, the reelected National President, Dr. Faisal Shuaib appreciated the LOSAns for their confidence in his leadership, vowing to generously exceed expectations.
