Member representing Lafia Central constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki, has urged Nigerians to vote leaders based on capacity, competency and God fearing for the overall development of the country.
Hon. Akwashiki, the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts made the call shortly after he attended the seven day prayers of Alhaji Ahmadu Nungu, the Village Head of Tungan Nupawa today.
Hon. Akwashiki said that electing God fearing and competent leaders would promote peace and bring speedy development to the country.
” The people of Lafia Central constituency are enjoying the dividends of democracy today because during the 2023 election, the elected me irrespective of ethnic, religion and party.
” That is how people should vote leaders into offices in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy,” he said.
The lawmaker also urged Nigerians to shun ethnic and religious politics for development to continue to thrive in the country.
Akwashiki said that the death of the village head was a great lost to Tungan Nupawa community and Assakio ward considering his contribution to peace promotion.
“I am here with my entourage to condole with the family and Tungan Nupawa community over the death of our father Sarkin Tungan Nupawa.
” I want to urge you to take solace in God as everybody will die when he or her time comes.
” I pray Almighty God to forgive his shortcomings and grant the soul of our father peace,” he said.
Hon. Akwashiki commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his peace initiative and other developmental efforts in the state and called on the people of the state to support him to succeed.
He further commended Dr Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for stabilizing the House and prayed God to bless him abundantly.
The lawmaker used the medium to call on the people of the community and his constituents to continue to live in unity, peace and tolerate one another irrespective of their affiliations.
Hon. Yakubu Tunga, former Majority Leader, Lafia Local Government Legislative Council described Hon. Akwashiki as a God fearing leader, who has the interest of the people at heart.
He appreciated Hon. Akwashiki for condoling with the people of Tungan Nupawa over the death of their village head.
Responding, Mr Usman Madaki, Makongijin Tunga Nupawa appreciated Hon. Akwashiki and his entourage for identifying with them at their trial moment and prayed God to bless him abundantly.
In a related development, Hon. Akwashiki and Hon. Barr. Esson Mairiga, member representing Lafia North constituency attended the burial service of Godwin Enji, Nurse at Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) Lafia.
Hon. Akwashiki and Barr. Esson urged the family to take solace in God.
They urged Christians and other Nigerians to move closer to God and avoid sinful lives, adding that death can snatch anybody anytime.
Furthermore, Hon. Akwashiki attended a naming ceremony where he congratulated and rejoiced with Mr Shuaibu Danladi of Adogi community over the successful naming of his daughter, Fatima Shuaibu.
The lawmaker prayed God to protect, guide and give the baby good and sound health.
He urged parents to take good care of their children, saying that children are special gifts from God.
Speaking during the naming ceremony, Alhaji Bala Adogi of Adogi community and Hon. Shuaibu Idede, former Councillor of Adogi ward all showered encomiums on Hon. Akwashiki over his leadership style.
They urged the lawmaker to answer the calls of the people to contest for Lafia/ObI federal constituency seat come 2027.
They called on the people to support Hon. Akwashiki to succeed.
Hon. Akwashiki also visited the Village Head of Ashangwa, Mr Abdullahi Yahaya where the community leader prayed and blessed him ahead of his 2027 political ambition.
The Village Head conferred Hon. Akwashiki with a traditional title of Shettiman Ashangwa, a gesture Hon. Akwashiki appreciated and pledged to contribute more to the development of the community and the society at large.
Chief James Ewu Esson, the Village Head of Akassa, the village of Hon. Akwashiki appreciated Sarkin Adogi for conferring his son with the title.
He pledged Hon. Akwashiki’s commitment to the development of his constituency and beyond.
