Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau Ph.D has urged Christians and other Nigerians to live holy and examplary lives while alive in order to inherit the kingdom of God.
The Speaker made the call during the funeral service of Late David M Yerima Akwashiki, Retired Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (ACI) held in ERCC Central Lafia.
He said that late David Yerima has contributed positively to peace promotion, security and development of the society.
” An Iroko tree has fallen in Eggon nation and Nigeria at large.
“Late David Yerima was a unifier and he has united Eggon youths by conducting credible and peaceful election that usher in new executives of Eggon youth.
” Death is inevitable, whether we like it or not, we will all die one day.
” I am here to give late David Yerima my last respect.
” I want to call on all of us to move closer to our God” the Speaker said.
Dr Jatau urged the family and Eggon nation to bear the irreparable loss.
” To the family, please you should take solace in God” he added.
Speaker Jatau prayed God to forgive the deceased of his shortcomings and grant his soul eternal rest.
The Speaker appreciated clerics and others for their prayers for the unity, peace and development of the State.
On his part, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki, member representing Lafia Central constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly said that the death of his elder brother was painful and a great lost to the entire family.
Akwashiki said that the deceased had contributed 50 percent to his political success.
The Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts appreciated all those who came from far and near to attend the funeral service and prayed God to grant them journey mercies to their various distinctions.
On their part, Mr Mandy David Abuluya, the President, Eggon Cultural and Development Association ( ECDA), Sen. Patricia Akwashiki, HRH, Sunday Namo, Aren Koron Kuje, Mr Stephen Moses, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration Service, representing Comptroller General of Immigration, Mrs Kemi Nana Nandap, Mr Dave Denji, President of ERCC among others gave good testimonies about the deceased.
They said that David Yerima has contributed a lot to the development of Eggon nation and the society at large in the area of unity, peace, security and others.
They have condoled with the family and urged them to see his death as an act of God.
They prayed God to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.
Responding, Mr Moses Akwashiki, who spoke on behalf of the family, said David was a unifier, a peaceman, and developmentalist while live.
He said that late David has contributed positively to the development of the family and the society at large.
He thanked the Speaker, dignitaries and all those, who came from far and near to witness the burial.

Earlier, Very Rev. Steve Shammah, Administrative Secretary, ERCC Abuja Conference while presiding over the funeral service, urged Christians and other Nigerians to live holy and lives worth of emulation in order to inherit the kingdom of God.
The cleric said that death is inevitable, hence the need for Christians and other Nigerians to shun evil acts at all times.
He also urged Christians and other Nigerians to embrace forgiveness at all times.
” Man must face death. All of us will die one day. Let’s prepared at all times by living holy lives.
” God can not be bribed. On the last day, God is the Chief Judge as there is going to be judgement on the last day” he said.

Iliya Zhekaba, Hon John Ovey, Hon Jacob Kudu, Hon Musa Saidu Gude, Hon Barr Esson Mairiga, Mr Mandy David Abuluya, President, Eggon Cultural and Cultural Development (ECDA), HRH Sunday Namo, Aren Koron Kuje, Mrs Mary Enwongulu, former Minority Leader of the State Assembly, Dr. Esther Sam Allu, APC Women Leader, North Central Zone, Dr Joseph Haruna Kigbu, former House of representatives member among other sympathizers.
It would also be reported that Late ACI David M. Yerima (JP) died at the age of 60 leaving behind to mourn him a wife and three children.
