490 Schools to benefits from AGILE Project in Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Government says under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project, 490 Schools will benefit from the various intervention programmes with a view to promoting quality and affordable education for girl-child in the state.

The Chairman of the Steering Committee of AGILE and Commissioner of Education, Dr. John Mamman announced this development shortly after the 2025 third quarter meeting of the project to review AGILE implementation initiatives ahead of official flag-off of the programmes earmarked.

The meeting brought together commissioners, permanent secretaries, Directors and other key players from the other ministries including the state Coordinator of Adolescent Girl Initiative for Learning and Empowerment AGILE, Aisha Aliyu Isoga.

Addressing journalists shortly after the emergency meeting, the State Commissioner of Education,Dr. John Mamman who presided over the meeting said the stakeholders discussed on the success of the project with 490 schools to benefit from different intervention projects to be carried out by the AGILE which include renovation of schools, disbursement of funds, provision of toilet facilities aim at motivating students particularly girl to have access to quality education across the state.

The Education Commissioner equally explained that under the project 3,31 schools will be part of small grants while the medium 1,59  schools will also benefit from the project, saying the stakeholders resolved to Flagg of the project soon to set pace for other states running Agile projects to emulate from Nasarawa state because of the commitment and passion from the growth and development of education.

Dr. Mamman announced that conditional cash transfer has been set up to motivate girl child education due some basic needs that have posed a major challenge that makes some children to stop going to schools. According to him the interventions will go a long way in encouraging girl child education in the state.

He noted that in the first phase of the project, not less than 10,539 students will benefit from the gesture of the state government.

Dr.John however maintained that the small incentive being provided will motivate both the parents and their children to go to schools line with the World Bank and Governor Abdullahi Sule’s commitment.

Also speaking to journalists,the Project Coordinator of Adolescent girl Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE PROJECT) Aisha Aliyu Isoga said the project has engaged all relevant stakeholders and concluded all preparatory activities to commence the 3rd quarter intervention programmes.
