Governor Mohammed inaugurates committee for creation of new emirates, chiefdom, districts

Governor Bala Abdukadir Mohammed has inaugurated a committee to review requests for the creation of new Emirates, Chiefdom, and Districts across the state.

Inaugurating the committee at Government House Bauchi , Governor Bala Mohammed described the move as a commitment by his administration to ensure fairness, inclusiveness, and strengthening local governance structures.

He said the task of the committee is to review all requests submitted for the creation of Emirates, Chiefdom, and Districts, make recommendations based on principles of equity, inclusiveness, and financial sustainability as well interacting with stakeholders and conducting field assessments where necessary to validate claims.

The governor said that the committee will also recommend deserving communities for new traditional institutions, Propose administrative frameworks for the effective functioning of the newly created Emirates, Chiefdom or Districts and Submit a detailed report with actionable recommendations within eight weeks

According to the governor, the creation of new traditional institutions would be guided by a genuine desire to promote peaceful coexistence, cultural heritage, and administrative efficiency rather than personal or political interests.

He charged the committee to carry out its assignment with sincerity, diligence, and transparency

Speaking on behalf of the committee, the Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam assured that to handle transparency, justice and fairness in the course of their assignment.

The committee has representation from security agencies, traditional institutions, civil society organizations, relevant ministries, departments and agencies as well as the Media.
