Stakeholders applauds establishment of Ministry of Livestock Development, says  is game changer

The establishment of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development (FMLD) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received commendation for a bold step taken towards addressing conflicts, unemployment and fostering economic growth.  

Addressing participants at the opening of the 2025 Nigeria Livestock Investment Summit, held at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Conference Centre in Abuja, the President of the Livestock Producers Association of Nigeria (LIPAN), Alhaji Sanusi Hashimu (MON) commended the Initiative.

He described it as a quantum leap in the development that will create significant employment opportunities for Nigerian youths while resolving lingering conflict between farmers and herders.

” The Nigerian Livestock investment summit is one key area where we think we need to support the renewed hope agenda of Mr President, he is ready to build the capacity of Nigerians especially producers in the areas of livestock, we have good market, domestic and international, we need to develop the sector ” he said.

On his part the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical Assistance, represented Mr. Byron Isi,  also lauded the initiative, emphasising the potential of the livestock sector to leveraging Nigeria’s youthful population of nearly 160 million, creating inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods.

The two-day summit, organized by LIPAN in collaboration with Transhumance Pacifique, the German Corporation, the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, and the House of Representatives Livestock Committee, highlighted the critical role of livestock in economic and capacity development.

The day one of the event ended with  a shared commitment to transforming Nigeria’s livestock sector into a driver of innovation, security, and youth empowerment.
