
Speaker, Nasarawa State House Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has called on Eggon people and other citizens of the State to continue to live in unity and peace irrespective of their affiliations.
The Speaker made the call during the 2024 Ame Wo Ba Eggon (AWBE) Carnival in Nassarawa Eggon on Saturday.
Speaker Jatau said the importance of unity and peace to human and societal development could not be overemphasized hence the need for his call.
” Let’s all continue to embrace unity, peace and tolerate one another irrespective of our affiliations.
“Peace is the necessary requirement for the development of any society” he said.
Jatau also urged parents to teach their children their culture and language for societal development.
” I am afraid that may be in the next 20 or 30 years, our tribe and culture will go into extinction, if parents refused to teach their children their tribes and languages.
” It is a message to all of us, culture is people’s way of life and culture is our identity.
” It is not when you are looking for votes that you will come to carnival. We should do ot in the interest of our people at all times.” he said.
The Speaker also called on the people of Eggon nation and other citizens of the State to continue to support Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed.
” On behalf of the state, I greet you all. I want to appreciate you for the support this government has been getting from Eggon people and other citizens.
” I pray for more support for my leadership and Gov. Abdullahi Sule administration to succeed” he said.
The Speaker lamented over the low turn out of people at the carnival while calling on politicians not to only come to carnival during election.
” We should have the love of our people at our heart and not just when we are looking for election that we will come to Carnival” he added.
Also speaking, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki and Hon. Esson Mairiga said that Eggon lawmakers would not disappoint Eggon people and other citizens of the state at the state legislature.
They said they will continue to be the voice of the voiceless at the state legislature.
“We will speak for you and fight what is right for the citizen of Nasarawa State”
“We will propose a Bill that would promote culture of the people of the State”
The lawmakers assured of their continued determination to support AWBE at all times.
Also Speakings, Mr Mandy David Abuluya, the President, Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA) commended AWBE for promoting unity and peace among Eggon people.
Abuluya, who is the Proprietor, Nacabs Polytechnic Akwanga assured of his continued commitment to initiate different policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the State.
On his part, Navy Capt. Mark Bawa, Chairman, Board of Trustee of AWBE also harped on the need for Eggon people to continue to live in unity and peace with one another.
He said that AWBE would continue to add value to Eggon nation by initiating different policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of Eggon nation.
Hon. Iliya Ibn Aliyu, the Executive Chairman, Nassarawa Eggon LGA also appreciated AWBE for adding value to the lives of Eggon and other people of the State.
He also assured of his support to them to succeed.
Earlier, Comrade Samuel Jonathan Akpaho, the President AWBE said that the event was among other things organized in order to promote unity and peace among Eggon people and others.
He appreciated the Speaker, ECDA President, BOT Chairman and other dignitaries for attending the event and prayed God to grant them journey mercies to their various distinctions.
The Speaker commissioned a Bus donated by Chief Amb. Isaac A Kigbu, former Eggon Youth Movement (EYM) President to Eggon Cultural Dancers Angwan Rogo B.A.D Lafia LGA of Nasarawa State.
