The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Ibrahim Angbolo has tasked the newly inaugurated council chairmen on transparency and good governance to bring development to the grassroots.
Angbolo gave this charge in a sideline interview with the newsmen at the inauguration ceremony of the council chairmen on Monday in Lafia.
He expressed hope that with the Local Government autonomy in place, the development of local government should be the priority of the new chairmen.
Angbolo, while calling for support for the newly inaugurated council chairmen, charged them to initiate policies and programmes that would better the lives of their people at the grassroots.
Angbolo commended Gov Abdullahi Sule, All Progressives Congress (APC), and its supporters for the resounding victory of the party at the polls.
“Today, we are rejoicing in the resounding victory of our great party, we are also rejoicing with the newly inaugurated council chairmen for the successful outings.
“My call to the council chairmen is to run an inclusive government, be prudent and transparent in the management of the councils’ resources to bring development to the grassroots,” he advised.
Angbolo called on the people of the state to sustain support for the administration of Gov Sule as it poised to bring more development across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
“As a Government we are committed to sustaining effort in bringing development, ensuring security of lives and property, I, therefore appeal to citizens to live peacefully with one another,” appealed. (NAN)
