
The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan has commiserated with families of the School Children that died at the collapsed portion of Saints Academy School Busa Buji in Jos North Local Government Area of the State.
In a statement, the speaker noted that he received the tragic news of the incident with deep shock, he called on all in the Plateau spirit to support the victims especially the injured in the hospital in whatever means they can.
While commiserating with the government and people of the state, the speaker added that a comprehensive report is expected soon.
“I am humbled by the collective support rendered of all, in the Plateau spirit, at the site of the unfortunate event, and at the hospital. The spirit of being one another’s keeper in this time of great pain is comforting.
“May I therefore call on the government of Plateau State to hasten all supports needed for these young Plateau citizens and their families. A complete report of this incident, and ways of mitigating any future occurrences be made available.
“The Plateau State House of Assembly on her part, will do everything possible, now than ever, to make the necessary laws that protects the integrity, especially of buildings being access by the public in the state.
“Once again, my heart, along with that of all the members of the Assembly, goes to H. E. Barr. Caleb M. Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, for the loss of these young school children, and to the immediate families of the departed, and wounded.” The statement added.
It could be recalled that a two storey school building had collapsed in Busa Buji, Jos North Local Government Area, trapping students with many of them feared dead while the survivors were taken to hospital for treatment.
