Lafia win Nasarawa under-13 Primary School Football Competition

Lafia Local Government under-13 team on Monday defeated their Akwanga counterpart on penalties to win the second edition of Nasarawa Under-13 primary school football competition at the Lafia City stadium.

Lafia emerged winner after scoring three penalty shots having played goaless at regulation time, with Akwanga lost their three shots.

The competition was sponsored by Aliyu Bello Charity Foundation in collaboration with Nasarawa State Football Association and the Nasarawa State Government.

It was organised to commemorate the International Children’s Day as well as the first year in the second tenure of Gov. Abdullahi Sule of the state.

Meanwhile, Karu defeated Doma in the third place of the competition.

Speaking after the match, Gov. Abdullahi Sule congratulated all the team that participated in the competition especially the winners.

The governor expressed joy with the spirit of sportsmanship displayed by the players and their handlers throughout the tournament.

“You have shown that some of you can truly pursue carrier in football and we will support you in that regard,” Sule added.

Prices were presented to all the participating teams as well as the winners, second and third position respectively. (NAN).
