
Lafia Old Students Association (LOSA) says it is targeting N1 billion to support infrastructural development at their alma mater, Government Science School Lafia.
Dr Faisal Shuaib, National President of the Association made the disclosure on Friday in Lafia while they hosted Retired Justice Sidi Bage-Mohammed, Emir of Lafia.
Bage-Mohammed who visited his alma mater as part of the fifth anniversary as Emir of Lafia, graduated from the school in 1974.
He said that the association had recently raised N100 million and supported the school and was targeting to raise N1 billion to give the school a facelift to complement the government.
He said that the leadership of the association under him had already constructed and equipped a modern clinic for the school and had also intervened in so many areas.
“We want to ensure 24 hours electricity through different sources and water as a way of creating an enabling environment for teaching and learning.
“We will set up a 400 capacity Information Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory and already work has reached an advance stage.
“We will equip science and technical laboratories to and the Emir had supported toward achieving a better environment for teaching and learning.
“We will use our alma mater as a model for other school where others will emulate from us,” he added.

He explained that the support was necessitated by their determination to improve the educational standard of there former school as well as welfare of staff and students.
He therefore on behalf of the association congratulated the Emir of Lafia on his fifth anniversary on the throne and wished him good health and long life.
On his part, Bage-Mohammed expressed gratitude to their former teachers for the roles they had played in modeling them to be what they are today.
The Emir also urged the students of the school to be hardworking in their studies as according to him the only way to success is hard work.
The Emir of Lafia therefore donated N5 million to the school to equip the science and technical laboratories and promised to mobilize his friends to support in that direction.
Earlier, Mr Abubakar Ewa-Kana, Principal of the school expressed gratitude to the former students for their immense contributions for the development of the school.
The Principal however, appealed to them to help equip the science and technical laboratories as well as in the posting of qualified science teachers. (NAN).
