Group call for Proscription of Nomad Vigilante Group

Group under the auspices of Forum of Ethnic Youth Presidents of Nasarawa State have called on President Bola Tinubu to proscribe the Fulani Vigilante Group recently inaugurated in Nasarawa State.

The Forum made the call at a press conference in Lafia, Nasarawa state capital.

It will be recalled that the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani Socio-Cultural Association, inaugurated Nomad Vigilante Group with claims that it would assist the conventional security agencies in the fight against insecurity in Nasarawa state.

Speaking at the Press conference, President of the group, Comrade Silas Dauda Yileni rejected the setting up of any suspicious security outfit that was not community based to avoid a situation where they could be used as militias.

He therefore called for the immediate proscription of the Nomad vigilante group in the state and Nigeria at large.

Yileni said the forum was against arming of private security organisations in Nasarawa state especially in view of the peculiar security challenges facing the state and Nigeria large.

“That Alhaji Bello Bodejo and his co-promoters as can be traced to as directors or subscribers to a purported CAC Registration of Miyeti Allah Vigilante group this year (2024) be brought to book.

The forum expressed fear over the influx of migrants into Nasarawa communities without proper means of identification, noting that it posed security threat to the affected communities and the state at large.

He said,” We want an immediate directive to our security agencies in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria as established in various local governments and communities to comb our communities and fish out the alien migrants.

“Especially migrants who do not possess the National Identity card or criminally acquired same through a compromised process.

“We also want the strengthening of our security agencies with gadgets and capacity for better intelligence gathering and response.

“Finally, a commission of enquiry be set by the Federal and or state government to look into the security loopholes in Nasarawa State.”

The forum pledge their support to the administration of President Bola Tinubu, noting that it remains committed to the peace and security of Nasarawa state and Nigeria.
