He, however, expressed joy with the level of compliance in Lafia Metropoli and its environs, while noting that the campaign to keep the state clean would continue until the aim was achieved.

“It clear that we are winning the war in line with the mandate of the present administration under the leadership of Gov Abdullahi Sule to keep environment clean, habitable and safe for citizens of Nasarwa state.

“I am very happy today because traditional council has taken the lead in this campaign, just this morning, His Royal Highness, the chairman, Nasarawa state traditional council, Justice Sidi Bage (Rtd) personally went round to lend his voice to this campaign.

‘The Emir encourages the residents to come out and keep their surroundings clean. Is quite encouraging,” he said.

Kwanta said in line with the renewed commitment, he personally supervised the recent relocation of dumping site at the roundabout and the one behind the deputy governor’s office to the major dumping site.

“In fact this year is not going to be a business as usual, this is the first sanitation in 2024, we have already built robust synergy with traditional and local government councils to see that there’s total compliance.

‘I can say that Lafia is better than we met it, when we started the level of compliance was very low. Although there are pockets of challenge, we are winning them gradually,” he declared.

Also speaking, Chief Environmental Officer of the ministry, Abubakar Mohammed said his team has arrested 77 sanitation defaulters across four LGAs, Doma 14, Lafia 36, Akwanga 17 and Nassarawa Eggon 10 respectively.
