Supreme Court of Nigeria has on Friday affirmed the re-election of Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State.
This brings to an end the lingering Nasarawa State governorship Tussle between the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP and her candidate, David Ombugadu and the ruling party, All Progressives Congress APC, and her candidate, the incumbent Governor, Abdullahi Sule.
Gov. Abdullahi Sule was declared winner of the March 18 governorship poll in Nasarawa State and his victory was challenged by the opposition PDP in the State.
Delivering its ruling on Friday morning, the apex court dismissed the appeal filed by David Ombugadu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), David Ombugadu for lacking in merit.
The apex court said Governor Sule was validly elected in the election held on Saturday March 18, 2023.
A five-man panel of the Supreme Court has reserved judgment in the appeal instituted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 gubernatorial candidate, David Ombugadu, challenging the judgment of the Court of Appeal that reinstated Governor Abdullahi Sule.
The Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had earlier nullified the March 18th gubernatorial which produced Governor Sule, following which the Governor headed for the Court of Appeal to challenge the judgment of the tribunal.
