The National Coordinator In His Glory Ministries, Pastor Thomas Akanji has called on the Government to rise up to its responsibility of protecting lives and properties as the organization donates relief materials to victims of Bokkos Attacks in Plateau State.

He made the call today while addressing the Internally Displaced Persons who are taking refuge at COCIN RCC Headquarters, in Bokkos Plateau State.

“We want to use this medium to call the government to be proactive in this matter, to sit up because the number one responsibility of the government is to protect the lives and properties of its citizens.

“If the citizens are not getting what is rightfully and duly theirs because of corruption here and there, at least we should have the right to work with our hands to earn a living. That is the heart cry of the people” Pastor Akanji said.

He called on the people to hold on to their faith and should not be tempted to go back to idol worship or traditional things, but like the disciples in the Bible, they should count it all joy to suffer for Christ.

He also called on those who have not accepted Jesus as their Lord and saviour to do so before it is too late.

The Chairman Bokkos LGA IDPs welfare Committee, Bishop Dr. Ayuba Matawal in his speech said the Red Cross has registered 19000 displaced persons so far and those residing in the 13 camps that were created as at last week were 10,185 people.

According to him a lot of villages were sacked and the attackers are still on the rocks, making it difficult for the villagers to go back to their homes. He said “yesterday one person who went to water his crops at his garden was killed and another injured and is currently receiving treatment.”

The State Coordinator For His Glory Ministries, Evang. Grace Samson in her condolence message said they were there to comfort them and assure the people that God is with them at their moment of grief and they are with them as well.

Mrs. Grace urged them not to be discouraged but hold unto God who is able to save and deliver them from the attackers.

One of the IDPs, Mrs. Margaret Monday from Hurum thanked the visitors for their show of love and further solicited for their prayers.

A traditional ruler from Mongor, Mr. Philemon Mahanan who was also in the camp called on the government to come to their rescue as they cannot go to their homes or farms and their villages are there without any security personnel.

“Anyone who attempt to go home or to the farm will be killed just like his neighbor’s son who was injured today in the morning on his way to go and water his crops.” Said the traditional ruler.

The National Coordinator present their condolence letter to one of the elders in the camp and handed the relief materials to the Chairman of the IDPs welfare Committee for onward distribution to the victims.

They items presented includes: Beans, Blankets, Garri, Soap, Detergent, toiletries, Pampers, Vaseline and Slippers.
