No fewer than 138,15 households in Nasarawa State are to benefit from Renewed Hope (RH) Conditional Cash Transfer under the National Social Safety Net Programme (NASSP) of the Federal Government.
Mrs Rhoda Agbawu, Nasarawa state, Head of Unit RH – Conditional Cash Transfer disclosed this during step down training organised for facilitators on enrollment application process on Wednesday in Lafia.
According to her, the138,15 poor and vulnerable households in the state are sourced from the national social register.
She said the programme which was aimed at reducing economic hardship and to increase access to usage of financial services, particularly digital financial services was a response to shocks caused by government policies, natural and pandemics.
Agbawu explained that RH conditional cash transfer in the state was saddle with the responsibility of enrolling 138,15 poor and vulnerable households in that sourced from the national social register.
She urged the facilitators to pay attention to the training so as to have a better understanding of the enrollment activities.
She commended President Bola Tinubu for prioritising social protection as a key strategy towards reducing poverty and socio economic hardship of the vulnerable households in Nigeria
under the expanded national safety net system.
Agbawu appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule and his deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe who have been supporting the project and ensuring that it sustained in the state.
She congratulated the social transfer facilitators of Nasarawa state conditional cash transfer for being absorbed into the renewed hope conditional cash transfer of the Federal Government.
“In order to meet the mandate of the unit as enshrined in the operational manual of the programme, as a unit we solicit for your resilience and dedication in carrying out your duties and service to humanity by ensuring a perfect job.
“The aim of this programme is to reduce economic hardship and to increase access to usage of financial services, particularly digital financial services, the programme is a response to shocks caused by government policies, natural and pandemic.
“The objective is to provide time limited cash transfer and facilitating environment for digital financial services. This event is tag enrollment application, training for renewed hope conditional cash transfer or NASSP scale up training,” she said.
On her part, Princess Margaret Elayo, Commissioner for Special Duties, Humanitarian, Social Services and Non Governmental Organisations, said the programme was in line with the vision of governor Sule’s administration.
“You are the reason we are here, administration of governor Sule appreciated your contributions, whatever that is worth doing, is worth doing well, so, if you are working do it from the bottom of your hearts,” she urged.
