
The former lawmaker representing Bokkos Constituency at the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Amurudu Usaini has narrated how himself and a colleague narrowly escaped been slaughtered by armed robbers while on their way to Abuja in search for job opportunities for their constituents.
The lawmaker was speaking at his end of tenure thanksgiving service to God for seeing him through the four years as the representative of his people at the state Assembly.
The occasion was held on Sunday at his home Church, Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN Regional Church Council, RCC Richa in Bokkos local government area of the State.
While appreciating God for His faithfulness and the people for the mandate and support accorded him all through the tenure, the former lawmaker recalled an incident that nearly took his life and that of his colleague in a quest to lobby job opportunities for their people.
“In 2019 or so, my first year in office. We left Jos with my colleague, member representing Kantana constituency to Abuja in search for job for our people. On our way, robbers stopped us. They put knife on my throat, and they also put on my colleague’s and they were about to slaughter us before they later changed their mind”. He said.
But according to him, they later robbed them of their belongings and allowed them to go.
He also recounted how two of his colleagues, Henry Longs and Eric Dakogol whom they were inaugurated together in 2019 could not end the tenure as their lives were cut short by death.
“For me is a day of Thanksgiving to God for given me the opportunity to serve my constituency and to finish well is a thing of joy” he said.

He appreciated God for granting him what he described as a rear opportunity to impact lives through different types of empowerment, constituency projects and securing of permanent job opportunities to over 160 people which he promised to continue even after office with the help of God.
Amurudu alongside his wife, Mrs. Gloria Amurudu also used the occasion and asked for forgiveness from God and their constituents if in anyway they failed them by not meeting their expectations or offended any of them.
Many of those that the former member secured appointments for them in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies attended the thanksgiving service and one of them, Mr. Anyamut Edward who spoke to this medium on their behalf, said the former lawmaker is not tribalistic but a detribalised person who carries everyone along.
“As I speak, he empowered a lot of people. Those who were looking for job opportunities he gave them employment and I’m one of them. So I want to thank God and also thank him for the opportunity”, he said as he promised not to disappoint the former state legislator.
His colleague and former member representing Kanke constituency, Hon. Wallok Goma also applauded the lawmaker for representing his people well. He said they are more than colleagues but very closed friends.
“Sincerely speaking, Hon. Engineer Amurudu Usaini is a very passionate person, zealous in everything that he is doing. God has blessed him with a lot of strength and energy which he gives into anything he is doing”. He said.
He saluted the numerous projects executed by the the celebrant that spread across entire Bokkos Constituency. Wallok said love and care are part of Amurudu, which he has exhibited not only to his family or constituency but even among his colleagues.

Guest Speaker at the service, Rev. Yohanna Alamba of LCC Bwandang in Jos, read Isaiah 12:1-6 and spoke on the topic, “The Mystery of Thanksgiving” and said the secret of success is thanksgiving.
He reminded the people of the word of God that says “give thanks to God in every situation” and added that thanksgiving is a weapon to fight the devil and it draw God’s attention to man.
Plateau State Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda who was represented by the Registrar, College of Education Gindiri, Chief Maqual George acknowledged the good representation of the former lawmaker and encouraged him that all the efforts he put to ensure the construction of the road linking Richa from Bokkos will not be in vain because everything is possible with God.
Bokkos traditional Council through its chairman, HRH. Lawrence Ayizet, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN Bokkos local government branch among many other well wishers congratulated the family of the former member and appreciated his representation.
Colleagues and wives of the former member also traveled down the rocky road to support family of the celebrant in the thanksgiving.
