
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has applauded journalists practicing in the state for upholding professional ethics while carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.
The governor gave the commendation during the annual end-of- the year Journalists get-together organised by the Nasarawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Lafia.
Gov. Sule who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Comr. Peter Ahemba said his administration has enjoyed working with the journalists especially under the leadership of Comrade Salihu Alkali.
“The Government under the leadership of Gov Abdullahi Sule has continued to enjoy the partnership of Journalists under the exemplary leadership of Comrade Salihu Alkali.
“So, we as a government will not take this partnership for granted, that is why the governor is doing everything possible to ensure a conducive practice environment in Nasarawa. Just recently he approved the renovation of the press centre,” he said.
Governor, while assuring the journalists of a peaceful and conducive environment, urged them not to hesitate to constructively criticize the government for the betterment of the State.
Also speaking, Musa Abdullahi, former Deputy Director News, Radio Nigeria, reminded the journalists of the dignity of their profession while urging them never to allow sentiments influence their reportage.
On his part, Mr Matthew Kuju, a veteran journalist and founder of Eggonnews, congratulated the journalists in Nasarawa State for making it to the end of 2023.
He commended the NUJ Chairman for sustaining get – together for the journalists at the end of every year to unwind and celebrate.
Earlier in his remarks, Comrade Salisu Alkali, Chairman, Nasarawa state NUJ appreciated all the journalists in the State for always giving him maximum support and assured them of his commitment to prioritise their welfares.
