
Nasarawa United Football Club has yesterday flocked visiting Zamfara United Football Club 1:0 in the first match of week-one of the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
Aminu Abubakar, right-back defender and jersey number 13 of Nasarawa Utd FC scored the first goal of the season at the opening match on Saturday at the Lafia Township Stadium, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
He scored the first goal 10 minutes into the first half of the game to give the hosting club advantage over the visiting team as they hope to return to Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) next season.
In a post-match interview with newsmen, Alhasan Mohammed, Technical Adviser of Zamfara Utd FC said his boys did well but, unfortunately lost.
He added that they would focus on winning thier next match because their target is to return to NPFL.
On his part, Adamu Usman, Technical Adviser of Nasarawa Utd FC was happy for winning his first league match in the club.
He expressed optimism that the team would do well in their subsequent matches so as to return the Nigeria premier league.
The match was witness by football lovers including Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, his deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, Commissioners among others.
Also speaking to newsmen, Gov. Sule expressed gratitude with the state owned team for making them proud in their first match.
He therefore, promised to continue to invest more in sports development especially football. (NAN).
