The Gubernatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Plateau State, Solomon Nandy Chendan, has given assurance that his government would prioritize the security of lives and property of citizens, if elected.

The candidate was speaking as a guest at the Yoruba Women Forum, Face of Peace and Unity, 2023 tagged “Peace and Unity” which was held at Mega Park, Yan triller, Jos North local government area of Plateau State.

Speaking on the theme of the event, the gubernatorial candidate, who is a security expert, noted that peace and security is cardinal for development to strive hence, the need for someone with security expertise to address the incessant security threats in the state.

“We are tired of killing ourselves, by the special grace of almighty God, we would run a government that will be strictly for the safety of lives and property of the citizens” he emphasized.

He added that they would run an inclusive government where everyone will have a say and that priority will be giving to women. According to Mr. Solomon, as youth he picked a woman as the deputy governorship candidate for a better representation.

While calling for peaceful conduct as campaigns are going on, he appealed for understanding among the youths urging them to demonstrate high sense of responsibility during and after the election.

He appreciated the Yoruba Community on the Plateau for their contributions to peace and development of their host Community and salute the Women Forum for organizing such an event which is aimed at ensuring peace and unity of the people.

In his remark, the President General of Yoruba Community in Plateau State, Alh. Abdulhakeem Ayinde Aka said peace and unity are ingredients for development hence, the need to pray and work for peace in the state. 

He call on all people to sheath their swords and come to a round table, to forgive and forget for the interest of the state and the nation at large. 

Earlier, the convener Face of Peace and Unity under the umbrella of the Yoruba Women Forum, Plateau State Chapter, Mrs. Funke Janet Ogunlade said the event is all about peace and unity.

She said “This state is hospitable, and we the non indigenes of this state, we are championing the cause of peace because Plateau have shown us love, they have shown us peace in the place of chaos, even in the positions of distrust, we are trusted with positions in Plateau.

“Plateau people are nice, so this program is just to tell Plateau people thank you and that we are not going to take it for granted” she added.
