
Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, says the attacks on its offices in some parts of the country will not stop the commission from conducting the 2023 general election.
INEC National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education, Mr Festus Okoye stated this at a one day Capacity Building for journalists on Conflict – Sensitive Reporting and 2023 General Election in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital.
Mr Okoye explained that those indulged in burning down INEC offices were enemies of democracy but the commission had remained undistracted and focused on executing the electoral process as planned.
He called on the journalists to be in close touch with the electoral guidelines to ensure effective and accurate reportage of the 2023 general election.

The INEC National Commissioner urged the media professionals to pay attention to the country’s peculiarities, especially geographic location, security situation, and avoid ethnic and religious profiling of the people.
National President, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Chris Isiguzo commended INEC for bringing new innovations to the electoral process and called on the commission to remain committed to delivering credible elections in 2023.
