Group Berates Jang over Alliance with G5 Governors

A People’s Democratic Party PDP group known as Plateau for Atiku Movement has berated the former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah David Jang over his involvement and participation in the agitation of 5 PDP Governors known as G5.

The group made their position known during a press conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Secretariat, Joseph Gomwalk road, Jos, Plateau State.

Spokesperson for the group, who is a former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Istifanus Mwansat said they are deeply concerned by the former Governor of the state who is a member of the PDP Board of Trustees and a founder of the party for his position with the G5 Governors.

“We are constrained to say that the agitation of the group, to which he is a part, does not represent the thinking of the party and its members in the State. Therefore, we wish to request that he should return to base in Plateau State and engage with his constituents to shed more light on how the positions taken by the Port-Harcourt/Lagos group affect us in the state” the group said.

The group expressed worry on the G5 Governor’s decision at the Port-Harcourt meeting to withdraw participation from all activities of the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, unless the National Chairman of the Party Iyorchia Ayu resigns.

They listed all the reconciliation mechanism adopted by both the Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the Party and forum of Governorship Candidates of the party to resolve the issue but to no avail.

The group called for a change of attitude in the interest of the party.

“We condemn the prolongation of conditions that will hurt our party and our candidates in any form. We call on the G5 Governors and their supporters to embrace peace and work for the victory of the party PDP in all the elections, as we pledge our total support and loyalty”. The group opined.

Recalled that since the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the PDP presidential flag bearer from the North, the G5 Governors led by Governor Nyeson Wike of Rivers State had demanded for the resignation of the National Chairman of the Party, Iyorchia Ayu who is also from the north for a Southerner to chair the party for fairness and equity.

Members of the group were Ambassador Yahaya Kwande, two former National Assembly Members and former Governorship Candidats in Plateau State, Timothy Golu and Johnbull Shekarau among others.
